Castello di Potentino: IGT Toscana/ DOC Montecucco
Castello Di Potentino is a thousand year old castle with British owners who are making really great wines! This is the second restoration and winemaking project for the Greene family. Charlotte (Greene) Horton is a hands-on owner/winemaker and is recognized as a pioneer in this new Montecucco DOC zone and produces extraordinary Pinot Noir, Sangiovese and Alicante. The wines are incredibly rich in minerals and are gently pressed, resulting in extraordinary fresh and delicate wines! Charlotte has further innovated by making a very rare version of Pinot Noir, a  still, not sparkling Blanc de Noir. Truly one of the finest whites in Tuscany if not Italy. These natural wines are quickly receiving acclaim in Decanter and the highest of marks in Italian wine guides L’Espresso  and Veronelli. Good show Charlotte!Website: Castello Di Potentino

Lyncurio, 2010 IGT Toscana Bianco                                                                                             Pinot Nero, Blanc de Noir – Production 5,000 Bottles
A slightly copper tint alerts one that this white wine is intriguingly unique. Named after a mythical stone associated with Bacchus, the god of wine, Lyncurio is a Blanc de Noir! Pinot Noir is  vinified as a white and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The nose is clean, delicate and brimming with minerals and yeast. The palate is exceptionally clean, full of ripe pear and gently floral. Minerals and acidity are ample. The finish is pleasingly long. The appeal of this wine cannot be overstated!

Piropo, 2008 IGT Toscana Rosso                                                                                                        Pinot Nero – Production 5,000 Bottles
Garnet red as the precious gem it is named after, this Pinot Nero varietal is a rare Tuscan bottling and 2008 is the first pure mono varietal bottling. Piropo has a nose and palate of ripe raspberry, strawberry, wild mint and loads of minerals. it has great structure and elegance. Tannins are silky and delicate. The wine is incredibly clean fresh and vibrant. A seemingly  unorthodox choice of varietal, yet ideal for the cooler microclimate of Monte Amiata, resulting in a Pinot Noir that reflects its terroir and is very much at home in the young Montecucco zone of Tuscany.
