Le Grascete

Azienda Agricola Le Grascete: DOC Bolgheri
Le Grascete is one of the smallest producers in Bolgheri making three big reds. The Sangiovese blend Grale is femininely and elegant. It is one of  only a few blends using Sangiovese in the Francophile fury of Bolgheri. Antero, a mono-varietal of Merlot is an excellent value and mid-priced offering and Le Grascete’s  memorable Bolgheri Superiore is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc, a baby Sassicaia if you will…Web site: Azienda Agricola Le Grascete

Grale, 2010 Bolgheri DOC Rosso                                                                                                    Cabernet Sauvignon  Sangiovese  Merlot – Production 10,000 Bottles
Wine Enthusiast 90 Pts.- Editor’s Choice                                                                                                   A blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and, Sangiovese, this shows an impressive jump forward in terms of intensity and complexity. This wine is generous, full and round and it offers flavors of cherry leather and chocolate. -ML

Antero also pays homage to the proprietor’s grandfather and to Bolgheri’s ability to produce world class Merlot – as first proved by Masseto, one of the world’s finest wines. Antero offers Bolgheri terroir and elegance at an affordable price. The nose is lush with blackberry, blueberry roasted green pepper and a hint of eucalyptus. Antero’s palate is rich in blue and black fruit and is medium bodied. Fine tannins and acidity give structure and elegance.

Le Grascete, 2009 Bolgheri DOC Superiore                                                                   Cabernet Sauvignon 70%, Cabernet Franc 30% – Production 3,000 Bottles
Wine Enthusiast 89 Pts                                                                                                                                A distant whiff of rubber or asphalt appears at first, followed by notes of black fruit, cherry, rum cake and licorice. This 70-30 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc has a lean but powerful mouthfeel. – ML
